What is a Bulging Disc? There are many types of bulging discs, such as Cervical Bulging, Lumbar, Bulging Disc in the Back, Bulging disc in the Neck, Thoracic, Mild, Posterior and Degenerative bulging. One of the main causes of this issue is age. As you grow older, the cushioning of the discs between your vertebrae will simply lose water content, making them ridged, flat, and less absorbent. Many times these symptoms are caused from vehicle accidents, sports injuries, slips and falls, family history and not lifting things properly. Here are four stretches you can do that may help.
1. Sit on something where your feet are flat on the floor, next lift your left leg and put your ankle on top of your right knee, breath out and start to lean forward until you feel a good stretch in your lower back, hold the stretch for about 10 seconds, now switch legs and do the same thing to the other side, I like to do this stretch from the side of my bed when I get up in the mornings.
2. Next lay flat on your back on the floor, lift your right side hip up while trying to keep your shoulders flat on the floor, keep your left leg straight, hook the top of your right foot behind your left knee, now with your left hand grab your right knee and slightly pull down while trying to keep your right shoulder as flat to the floor as possible, remember to breath out while pulling down on your leg, now roll your hip up the other way and do the same to that side, remember do not jerk on your knee while pulling down.
3. The next stretch, get on your hands and knees on the floor, at the same time stretch out your arms as far out in front of you as you try to push your buttocks to the back of your legs, do not struggle with this, just try to get a good stretch, try to get the feeling of your fingers going one way will your butt is going the other, again do not jerk or bounce just a nice easy stretch.
4. Again, lay flat on the floor on your back, while keeping your right leg straight bring your left knee towards your chest, grab your knee with both hands and pull as far as you can to your chest while breathing out, remember to keep your other leg straight and flat on the floor, hold for about 10 seconds, NOW while still holding that knee slightly pull it towards your right shoulder, you should feel a very good stretch in your left buttock and lower back, hold for around 10 seconds while breathing out, now switch to the other leg.
